Career

Pedro is the head of the Litigation and Arbitration practice and handles complex international and domestic disputes. He focusses on advising foreign and Brazilian companies in a broad variety of sectors, such as banking, construction, energy, entertainment, mining, oil & gas and telecommunication. Pedro specializes in corporate and infrastructure/construction disputes. He is also an expert in crisis management, focused in achieving best results for his clients. Pedro’s experience as a lawyer is also enhanced by his continued handling of disputes as arbitrator in Brazil and abroad. Pedro obtained his law degree from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

His early career highlights include nearly two years experience as an international associate at a leading U.S. law firm in the International Practice Group where he gained knowledge about international business transactions and information technology.

Lefosse Advogados’ dispute resolution group is led by Pedro Maciel, who regularly acts in international arbitrations and is noted for ‘focusing on the most important matters’. The firm is representing Shell in arbitration initiated by PetroRio in a dispute concerning the termination of the purchase and sale of an interest in certain oil fields. On the litigation side, the group represented Mantiq Investimentos, as manager of investment fund InfraBrasil, in litigation over an issuance of debentures by PST Energia. Raphael Nehin Corrêa is the second partner in the team. Carlo Verona joined Demarest Advogados in December 2017.
