Helen specialises in employment law and acts for public and private sector clients including the NHS, education sector and probation service.  Helen leads our NHS employment team. 

She has represented clients in complex Tribunal claims and has particular defending whistleblowing claims against the NHS. 

Helen also has expertise in handling difficult employee relations cases often involving multiple allegations of discrimination, whistleblowing, breakdowns in relationships, mental health issues and fitness to practise. 

She regularly advises clients on matters including TUPE, equal pay, restructures and reorganisations, discrimination and variation of terms and conditions of employment.

Browne Jacobson LLP 's Birmingham office is headed by James Tait who is noted for his 'fine analysis of situations', 'very good understanding' and 'tailored advice' to clients. He is an expert in advising on cross-border transactions, restrictive covenants and whistle-blowing claims. Helen Badger  has expertise in handling tribunal claims, with a strong emphasis on the healthcare and education sectors.

Browne Jacobson LLP 's repertoire in education includes advising on employment, property and governance issues. Nick Mackenzie heads the team and recently advised Pershore High School on its conversion into a multi academy trust and the establishment of new governance arrangements. He also assisted The Mercian Trust with setting up a new multi academy trust, which incorporated both Queen Mary’s Grammar School and Queen Mary’s High School. Academy conversions expert Richard Freeth is also a key figure, who advised Everton Football Club on its arrangements with a nearby MAT, the DfE and ESFA, which involved supporting the club’s academy players with their educational needs. Helen Badger works on employment matters and advised a multi academy trust on a grievance and whistle-blowing investigation.

Browne Jacobson LLP  has expertise in clinical negligence, inquests, employment, property and commercial matters. Sarah White is an expert in high profile clinical negligence defendant work, as is her colleague Rachel Lyne . Neil Ward is also a key figure and is an expert in complex and sensitive inquest cases. Jonathan Hayden is an expert in commercial contracts and new care models, and recently advised NHS Scarborough and Ryedale CCG on developing a new care model where community services are commissioned on an outcome-focused basis. Helen Badger specialises in employment, particularly on complex tribunal claims and Martin Cannon works on construction disputes.
