Derek is Browne Jacobson’s Senior Partner.  He specialises in all aspects of professional and institutional default, management liability, insurance coverage and contentious insolvency.

Derek has over 30 years’ experience acting for clients in connection with these issues, and has conducted and advised in relation to litigation in every level of Court and Tribunal up to and including the Supreme Court and the Privy Council.

He also has international court experience including Cayman Grand Court, Court of Appeal level and Gibraltar Court of Appeal level.

Noted for his ‘superb client and team management skills’, Jonathan Tardif  ‘brings a sharp legal mind to bear on complex issues whilst maintaining an unflappable, affable and charming demeanour’. Tardif recently put his ‘forensic eye for detail and passion for service delivery’ to use for a leading luxury fashion retailer in its defence against a claim brought by SAP in relation to alleged under-licensing of SAP software dating back to 2011. The firm continues to act for Irving Picard, the US Trustee of the consolidated SIPA liquidation of Bernard L Madoff and Bernard L Madoff Investment Securities in a protective High Court claim and international investigation worth $1b. It is also advising two insolvency practitioners in an international accountants firm in relation to a £50m solvent estate.
