Work Department

Barry (Partner) was appointed as deputy head of the property department in November 2018 and is also head of our development & housing team. With 25 years’ experience, he specialises in property development, urban regeneration, complex site assembly, social housing projects, mixed use schemes and development joint ventures.

Acting for developers, housing associations, local authorities and landowners, Barry has an understanding of the priorities and perspectives of each of these sectors (or “poacher turned gamekeeper” as one client describes him) which is invaluable in an era of greater partnering between the sectors; he uses that experience to assist clients in complex projects and find workable solutions.

Barry is currently advising on several major urban extension developments – such as to the towns of Mansfield and Lutterworth in the Midlands – and major regeneration projects including Miller Birch’s £120M mixed use redevelopment of the historic Guildhall complex in Nottingham city centre.
