Position

Sarah (partner) was appointed as head of the property department in November 2018 and sits on the firm’s senior management team.

She has over 25 years’ real estate experience, specialising in retail and leisure. Previously, Sarah worked in-house at The Boots Company PLC, dealing with property development work and acting on high profile retail schemes property and has been client partner for Boots since 2008. Sarah is the go-to person by Boots for complicated phased relocations and high profile acquisitions. She is passionate about retail and, in addition to Boots, has also won further retail clients for the firm over the years; including Morrisons, Gieves & Hawkes, 99p Stores, House of Fraser, Pure Gym, Papa Johns and Scarsdale Vets.

Sarah has also chaired the annual East Midlands Property Managers Association training session at our Nottingham office for six years running. She organises the event, picks the topics and rehearses the speakers to ensure the firm receives excellent feedback from the attendees each year.

Sarah also has specialist sports experience acting for Leicester Tigers and Scunthorpe United Football Club Ltd. Following her work acting for the Wheatcroft family on the Donington Park race track site over the last decade, Sarah is now delighted to be instructed by the new owner, Motorsport Vision Limited, following the sale of the business last year which Sarah project managed in 2017.

Clients praise Sarah as being “very precise, very accurate and always on time”.

Highlights included advising Kevin Wheatcroft on the sale of Donington Race Track from Wheatcroft Properties to Motorsport Vision, including obtaining the necessary competition clearance and assisting with multiple long leases and options. Sarah Parkinson led on that matter and is praised for her ‘excellent vision and commercial acumen’. Barry Sully, who jointly heads the practice with the Birmingham-based Dominic Swift, led the team acting for Westerman Homes on the completion of funding arrangements, the acquisition of third-party land interests and disposal agreements with several national housebuilders in the context of the client’s joint venture with Nottinghamshire County Council and a Jersey-based investor regarding a development in Mansfield. Walgreens Boots Alliance and Enfield Council are also clients. Also recommended are Suki Tonks, who was recently promoted to partner, and Claire Burns, who was promoted to legal director.

The practice is jointly led by Caroline Green and Sarah Parkinson, who are instructed by major retail and hospitality companies including House of Fraser, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Papa John’s. Green advised DPDgroup on its purchase of a state-of-the-art parcel hub at Burbage, and Parkinson assisted a furniture retailer with the restructuring of its core business, which included an audit of the client’s title and the re-gear of certain business operations. New clients in 2017 include Europcar and Patisserie Holdings.
