Licensing, recoveries and insolvency.

Position

Partner in the licensing department, acting for large brewery estates, multiple licensed operators and single premises operators, dealing with premises licence applications under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, appeals in relation to liquor licence and civic government licensing. Also advising in criminal law matters arising from operation of licensed premises. Advises clients on planning law matters, principally re licensed premises and appeals. Also dealing with betting office licensed premises. Partner in recoveries and insolvency department. Advising clients in debt recovery and insolvency matters in relation to both Sheriff Court and Court of Session proceedings. Advising accountant in bankruptcy and private clients in respect of insolvency procedures. Advising in other commercial litigation, commercial disputes, reparation claims and intellectual property disputes.

Career

Joined Harper Macleod as a university research student in 1998 whilst in second year at university. Trained Harper Macleod 2001, assistant in insurance and licensing 2003-05, associate in licensing and debt recovery 2005-07, partner in debt recovery 2007-09; partner in licensing and recoveries and insolvency litigation 2007-to date. Part time tutor at University of Glasgow School of Law: Diploma in Legal Practice (Civil Procedure).
