Position
Member of the banking and finance, energy and natural resources and corporate and commercial practice groups. Specialises in transaction-based banking work and transaction management. Is head of the Transaction Banking Group. With his abilities highly regarded by both lenders and borrowers alike, he is regularly asked to advise in relation to a wide range of banking and finance work, including debt reconstruction, investment scheme finance, refinancing, acquisition finance, real estate finance, financing renewable energy projects, cross-border transactions and opinion work.
Career
Trained Paul & Williamson, Aberdeen 1993; manager Rutherford Manson Dowds (now Deloitte), Aberdeen 1995; in-house solicitor, Bank of Scotland, Glasgow 1997; Burness LLP, Glasgow 1999, partner 2004; partner Harper Macleod 2006 to date. Began building finance credentials early in his career, with two years working in corporate finance at Rutherford Manson Dowds (now Deloitte). En route to Harper Macleod spent two years as in-house legal counsel at Bank of Scotland, providing legal advice to corporate banking and structured finance groups, followed by seven years as a member of the banking team at Burness.
