Position

Partner in the fiduciary and litigation groups. Practices principally in contentious trusts and company matters including: advising and representing trustees and beneficiaries before the Royal Court on complex and sensitive applications for directions; advising on applications for rectification and variation of trusts on behalf of trustees; advising on freezing orders and asset tracing; advising on complex money laundering issues and ancillary matters; advising on shareholder disputes. He has acted as counsel in many significant trust cases to come before the Jersey courts in recent years, including the first decision of a Jersey court setting aside a trust on the grounds of mistake and the 103-day long Alhamrani trial.

Career

Qualified as an English barrister in 1990 and spent ten years practising at the English Bar during which he obtained extensive advocacy experience in a wide range of civil and criminal cases including contested trials before the English High Court, County Court, Crown Court and appeals to both the Civil and Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal. He returned to Jersey in 2001 and became an advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2002. He joined the firm as a partner in 2005.
