Sharon is counsel in Carey Olsen's corporate practice. Based in the firm's BVI office, she advises on corporate, finance and insolvency matters. Sharon regularly acts for lenders, insolvency practitioners, private equity houses, hedge funds, distressed companies, directors and trust companies.

Sharon's diverse practice ranges from finance transactions, including aircraft financing involving sharia law, start-up financing in emerging markets and high value real estate financing to corporate matters such as cross-border private equity, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions.

Sharon also advises on restructurings and insolvencies in a wide range of sectors including leisure and travel, real estate, healthcare and construction. During her time in London she advised on numerous trading and pre-pack administrations, administrative receiverships, fixed charge receiverships and liquidations. In the BVI she advises on provisional liquidations, insolvent and solvent liquidations and company creditors arrangements. She has extensive experience advising on security enforcement options and security structures.


Sharon was admitted as a solicitor in Scotland in 2007, as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2009 and as a solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (BVI) in 2014.

Sharon was formerly with Dundas & Wilson, London (now CMS Cameron McKenna) in the restructuring and insolvency team and prior to that was at Maclay Murray & Spens in Scotland. Sharon graduated from the University of Edinburgh and holds degrees in medical microbiology (BSc Hons) and Law (LLB).

Whilst at Dundas & Wilson, Sharon completed a year’s secondment in the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Global Restructuring Group where she advised on a number of complex and high-profile real estate restructurings.

She joined Carey Olsen in the BVI in March 2014.

Real estate finance is a key sector for Carey Olsen's BVI finance practice. The team advised Advanced Idea Holdings on the financing of London's 70 Gracechurch Street. Counsels Elizabeth Killeen and Sharon Mungall are experienced advisers, while Clinton Hempel, who divides his time between South Africa and the BVI, is the BVI practice group managing partner.
