Ogier employees in Guernsey have raised over £8,600 for the Piam Brown children's oncology and haematology centre at Southampton Hospital.

Each year, Ogier employees nominate one charity to receive the monies raised from a number of fund-raising activities throughout the year.  The partners of Ogier then doubled this sum to reach the final total of £8,622.

The Piam Brown unit is the Wessex Paediatric Oncology Centre and treats patients from the whole of the Wessex region as well as both Guernsey and Jersey. 

Simon Davies, partner Ogier Guernsey said "We are delighted to support the Piam Brown ward.  The work that they do to help Guernsey children and their families is fantastic.  We've had a lot of fun raising the money throughout the year and credit should go to our Ogier Active Committee who work tirelessly each year to ensure we have a substantial sum to donate to a worthy cause." 

Sandie Mallett, a local nurse from the Frossard Ward at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, who works with Guernsey children who are receiving oncology treatment accepted the cheque on behalf of the Piam Brown Children's Ward.  Sandie was delighted with the amount Ogier employees had raised and will pass the cheque to the Piam Brown unit when she visits later this month.  The money raised will go towards advanced medical equipment, new items for the school, replacing toys and activities for the playroom.

The Piam Brown unit treats all types of childhood cancer in the age range of a day old to eighteen years of age.  The unit has ten in-patient beds and a day ward area. whilst caring for approximately 100 to 150 patients on treatment at any one time..
