Managing Associate Dispute Resolution

Position

Grant is a Managing Associate in Ogier's Disputes Resolution team.

He has appeared in the BVI High Court, Commercial Court and Court of Appeals on a range of matters relating to shareholder disputes, contentious insolvency matters and commercial litigation.

During his time in the jurisdiction, he has acted on a wide range of matters including restructuring and insolvency and funds litigation. He has been regularly instructed by office holders including recievers and insolvency practitioners as well as other stakeholders.

Career

Grant practised at the English Bar on matters including commercial and contractual disputes before moving to the BVI five years ago. He has a wealth of experience working with CIS-based clients and represented the successful party in substantial litigation involving Russia's second-largest airline.

He has also regularly represented Asian based clients in respect of major cross-border litigation and insolvency matters.

Grant is recognised by Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and Who's Who Legal.

Grant studies sports, science and business at Loughborough University, before studying Law at BPP Law School, London.

Ogier 'provides consistently excellent client service'; the practice has a significant Russian, CIS and Far East client base and fields lawyers with particular expertise in insolvency-related disputes. The team acted for Essar Global Fund in resisting enforcement in the BVI of a New York confession judgement, marking the first time that the enforcement of such a judgement was sought in the BVI. BVI dispute resolution head Brian Lacy 'has everything at his fingertips and is incredibly knowledgeable', and Nicholas Burkill has significant expertise in civil fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and asset tracing cases that involve interim freezing and disclosure orders. Senior associate Nicholas Brookes 'will always go the extra mile for clients'. Managing associate Grant Carroll, who 'strikes up a huge rapport with clients', was hired from Walkers BVI.
