New senior hire appointed to Bedell Cristin Guernsey's expanding litigation team

May 2012

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jon Barclay as Counsel to strengthen our litigation team in Guernsey.

Jon Barclay is a leader in his field and has expertise in commercial litigation, fraud and asset tracing, corporate disputes and insolvency, trusts, regulatory and compliance issues.

Jon’s arrival adds to our litigation capabilities across the Channel Islands. He joins an expanding litigation team and he will work closely with Alasdair Davidson, our experienced litigation partner in Guernsey.

Described by the leading legal directories as ‘a skilful litigator with a fine reputation’ and as ‘a talented accomplished lawyer who has significant expertise in asset tracing and freezing injunctions’, Jon was called to the English Bar in 1999 and practised in the Chancery and Commercial Group at No.5 Chambers. He has been in Guernsey since 2005 and qualified as an Advocate the following year. Most recently he was a partner at another Guernsey law firm. He is a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel and the Proceeds of Crime Lawyers’ Association in the UK.

On his move to Bedell Cristin, Jon remarked:

‘Bedell Cristin is highly regarded by its peers and clients so this is an extremely exciting move for me. I am particularly looking forward to working with the team to further develop the Channel Islands litigation offering.’

Welcoming Jon’s arrival, Mark Helyar, Managing Partner in Guernsey, commented:

‘We are fortunate to welcome Jon to Bedell Cristin as Counsel. This senior hire is an exciting development for the firm and bolsters the legal experience and expertise available in our Guernsey office at a time when there are increasing demands for our litigation services.’

For further information please contact Jon Barclay or Alasdair Davidson.
