Mourant Ozannes has won the inaugural Law Cup at the 2011 Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon by being the first law firm to finish the relay race.

Over 250 teams participated in the relay race, sponsored by Mourant Ozannes, which saw the Law Cup contested for the first time in the marathon's six year history.

The firm's partners Rob Hickling, Ed Devenport, Simon Gould, Ben Robins and Giles Corbin completed the 26.2 mile course in 3 hours 11 minutes and 37 seconds during one of the hottest October days ever recorded in Jersey. It was good enough to place them eighth overall in the mens relay race standings and first in the law firm category.

In fact, Mourant Ozannes enjoyed first and second place in the Law Cup, with the firm's partners narrowly beating their colleagues - Martyn White, Matt McManus, Ross McCall, Jon Woolrich and Stephen Wauchope - by just 13 seconds.

As relay sponsors Mourant Ozannes entered 10 teams, with staff from Guernsey and London joining their Jersey colleagues.

Associate, Lizzie Simkin, who helped organise the firm's participation, said: "It was a really hot day, but everyone had a great time and there were a lot of first time runners and runners who have assured me that they will take part again next year, which is fantastic."
