Position

Partner and head of the firm’s construction and engineering group, specialising in construction and engineering contracts advice, advising developers, banks, consultants, purchasers and contractors on building and engineering contracts, consultants’ appointments and associated contractual matters such as bonds, guarantees and collateral warranties. Also covers the construction requirements of major projects from purchase or sale to PFI, as well as providing specialist construction advice to retailers and other non-specialist users of construction industry services; deals with the resolution of construction disputes (by negotiation, mediation and adjudication) and in conjunction with the firm’s litigators, by arbitration and litigation.

The main statutes relating to employment are the Portuguese Employment Code (approved by Law 7/2009 of 12 February 2009) and the Regulation of the Employment Code (Law 35/2004 of 29 July 2004) which is still in force notwithstanding the fact that parts have been revoked with the entry into force of the new Employment Code.
