Position

Paul heads the London office, as well as leading the firm’s private equity team. He regularly acts for institutions and management teams on leveraged transactions. Paul specialises in all forms of merger and acquisition and provides general company advice on a wide range of corporate matters. Paul is joint managing partner. Recent successes include advising Dunedin LLP and the buyer on the £90m MBO of Kee Safety Group Limited, advising Alycidon Capital Limited on the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Promold International Limited, advising TFM Networks Limited on the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Globalwave Communications Limited by Ensco 929 Limited, advising the sellers of Gardner Aerospace on the sale to a new company backed by Carlyle, leading the IBO of Dimensions Corporatewear out of Johnson Service Group plc, acting for Dunedin in the institutional buyout of Formaplex and acting for Inflexion Private Equity on the acquisition of Phlexglobal.

Career

Qualified 1984; partner Gateley 1989 to date.

Education

Nottingham Trent University (LLB).

Leisure

Paul enjoys all sports, especially playing tennis and golf. He also enjoys music, good food and company.

Gateley Plc has a particular strength in the private equity sector, acting for investors such as Dunedin, LDC, Ridgeway Capital, Maven and NorthEdge, as well as large corporates and high-net-worth individuals. Paul Hayward heads the team; he recently acted for Scout 7 Holdings on its sale to Perform Media Services. Steven Raize, who has extensive experience in the recruitment sector, advised investor Ridgeway Capital and newco CM Harbour on the secondary management buyout from LDC of Caspian Media. Nick Smith, who specialises in telecoms and technology M&A, is also noted.
