Chris specialises in corporate law and advises on acquisitions, disposals, reorganisations and joint ventures for large companies. He also acts for individuals who are growing or selling their businesses. Chris is part of Gateley’s private equity team and regularly acts for institutions and management teams on leveraged transactions. Chris also acts for property developers, house builders and local authorities in the corporate aspects of property transactions (including regeneration work). Recent successes include: acting on the restructuring of Caledonian Modular; advising newco and management on a multi-million pound leveraged buyout of a demolition and strategic land business; acting for the shareholders of Medical Imaging UK Limited on the disposal to EMIS Group plc; representing Gresham on the secondary buyout of Just Trays; acting for management on the further equity investment in Roxhill Developments; advising management and the group on the sale of Amtico Holdings to Mannington Mills, Inc; advising the shareholders of Wiltshire Medical Services on the investment in the business by Moonray healthcare and the related acquisition of Telehealth Solutions; acting for newco and management on the management buyout of Reader Offers; and acting for the sellers on the sale of Impetus Automotive to ISIS Private Equity and management.

The firm handles a range of commercial contracts matters and management buy-outs space, alongside some expertise in AIM capital markets. Paul Cliff  and Tom Rush, a June 2017 partner promotion, advised Franchise Brands on its reverse takeover of Metro Rod, which necessitated a re-admission of the company on AIM. Elsewhere in capital markets, the two also advised Stockdale Securities as Nomad to the £16.9m AIM IPO of Verditek, which owns several cleantech businesses. Chris Reed  ‘works hard, keeping things rolling and most importantly getting the best deal for clients in the long term’ - his work includes significant buy-side MBO deals; Tom Durrant advised Inflexion Private Equity on the management buyout of PCMS Group, which provides point of sale software to retailers including Waitrose. Simon Gill advised Palatine Private Equity on an investment in TTC Group. Mike Ward advised My Policy Limited on the company’s sale in a management buy-out backed by Inflexion Private Equity. Simon Pigden is a key contact for outsourcing contracts, many of which concerning technology. Other clients include Gymshark. Kirstin Roberts has moved to Freeths LLP.
