Position

Partner specialising in Employment and HR Legal support. Runs a full service employment practice acting for substantial corporate clients, SME's and owner managed businesses on all aspects of employment work. Helen is well known for providing accessible and effective advice. She enjoys working closely with clients as an extension to the in-house team to cut through the complications of employment and HR legal issues. Experienced in all employment issues including change management and restructuring, corporate support, TUPE, disputes, dismissals, settlement agreements and day to day issues arising during employment (e.g. disciplinary, performance, bonus and incentive arrangements), competition from ex-employees and team moves (garden leave etc) and all aspects of tribunal work. She also advises senior executives on hire and fire scenarios which gives her a broader understanding of the dynamics of the employment relationship.

Boddy Matthews Limited has a particular strength in franchising matters. It represented Caremark in a breach of contract and wrongful conduct claims brought by the client in proceedings against a company in the care sector, and acted for CAI Marine in arbitration proceedings against Swansea Drydocks for refurbishment and conversion works on the client’s vessel at the defendant’s docks. Other clients include Stocksigns and UK Marine Services. Kate Matthews heads the department and is ably supported by employment expert Helen Boddy.
