Helena is an IP, IT and commercial expert with over 15 years' experience advising on a range of legal areas such as high profile technology sector investments and acquisitions, high profile public bodies and charities and on strategic data protection issues and more. Helena is also a fully accredited Practitioner in Data Protection, and also has extensive experience in providing support on complex freedom of information matters. Helena supports and advises on international data transfers, service offshoring and subject access requests.

Key individuals include global investigations practice head Nichola Peters, Ben Koehne, who leads the building societies group; financial regulation head Amanda Hulme, employee incentives expert Jonathan Fletcher-Rogers and Edinburgh-based data head Helena Brown. David Pygott joined from CMS to expand the firm's contentious regulatory expertise.

The IT team at Addleshaw Goddard acts for clients across a variety of industry sectors including the retail, sports and financial services arenas. The firm recently leveraged its strong expertise in the personal data field  to attract new clients including Edinburgh Airport and Lumesse. Ross McKenzie, who was previously the head of privacy at Burness Paull LLP, recently joined the Aberdeen office to strengthen the firm's capacity in the data protection space. David Anderson leads the IT practice in Scotland, and Helena Brown is a key contact for non-contentious matters.

Addleshaw Goddard's team represents football players, clubs and agents in regulatory proceedings raised by the SFA and the SPFL, and is the sole legal support to Celtic for the football club's GDPR compliance programme. Partner Helena Brown handles sponsorship agreements, trademarks and licensing, IT and software procurement for several football clubs. Legal director Tony McGlennan, who joined the firm in September 2018, has brought insider knowledge to the team from his tenure as compliance officer at the SFA.
