Addleshaw Goddard   is noted for its work in advertising clearance, trademark portfolio management and in all aspects of brand protection and enforcement. Manchester-based Paul Bentham  leads the brands and design team, the group manages the trademark portfolios of several well-known brand-owners including Harrods, Liverpool Football Club and moneysupermarket. Emma Armitage  focuses on IP litigation has recently acted for Sainsburys and Argos to recover domain names from a cybersquatter.  Design and litigation focused Rachel Cook counts Primark and British Airways as past clients.   On the non-contentious side, Tim Carter  is highly experienced in all matters concerning trademarks and Rebecca Moore  is noted for her work in brand exploitation through advertising.  James Whittaker  is recommended for sponsorship and IPR acquisition, as is Georgina Powling  for agreements relating to the generation and exploitation of IP rights.

Addleshaw Goddard  ’s ‘well-established’ team is specifically noted for its purchaser-focused advice in both the public and private sectors. It is well-equipped to handle high-profile and high-value IT projects and has considerable cloud expertise. It is also skilled at acting for clients that are outsourcing their IT and business processes. Head of department James Whittaker  has an ‘excellent reputation’. The strong team continues to advise EFL Digital (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Football League) on the re-tendering of its contracts for its digital service offerings. In addition the team is advising the Co-Operative Group on a significant business transformation programme. On this deal the practice is advising on the multiple IT procurements of a new retail food IT system from SAP and JDA, together with systems integration services from TCS, SAP and other suppliers. Other important clients include household names such as Matalan and Diageo.Paul Bentham  is well regarded for his advice to clients on major systems implementations and outsourcing projects (including ERP implementations), cloud solutions and ICT outsourcing. Phil McGough  is another key member of the team and has extensive experience of advising on the full range of technology matters from system development and implementation to IT infrastructure agreements.
