The firm: Austin Moore & Partners was established by Austin Moore (ex-Gateley) and Vik Moothia (ex-Eversheds) to focus on corporate and property transactions, competing with much larger firms on quality of advice, commerciality and price. This formula has led to rapid growth with ten lawyers and six support staff at its Nottingham office. The firm's offering has been expanded to include lawyers specialising in employment, commercial, intellectual property and tax.

The focus is on transactions - the team is set up to handle acquisitions and private equity transactions of any size. This transactional focus means the team work together effectively to deliver that service, not being distracted by other work. Its lawyers are straight-talking, practical and intuitive. They take the time to understand their clients' business and property.

Recognising the great strides the firm has made during 2016, the firm was part of the team which won the award for 'Deal of the Year' at the Insider East Midlands Dealmakers Awards and the firm was nominated for 'Legal Team of the Year' in those awards. The firm was previously nominated in the Nottingham Post Business Awards for Service Excellence.

With roots firmly placed in the East Midlands, the individual members of the team combine their considerable experience, connections, local knowledge and reputations to provide clients with unparalleled support wherever and whenever they need it, both commercially and legally. In a cost-sensitive world where legal costs need to be proportionate to the transaction, the firm ensures costs are completely transparent by providing a fixed fee for work undertaken on most transactions. This, coupled with the offering of expertise and service, appeals to most. As such, the client base varies from SMEs and individual lenders to pension funds, large companies and plcs.

Austin Moore & Partners has a network of lawyers that it works with to ensure that, where its clients' requirements fall outside its core specialisms, it is able to access an appropriate lawyer for the client's specific need.

Types of work undertaken: The firm is particularly well regarded and known for undertaking the following: mergers and acquisitions, including shares, business and asset sales and purchases; corporate reorganisations and reconstructions; management buyouts, including advice on associated funding arrangements; subscription and shareholders' agreements; private equity funding, including institution and 'business angel' funding; joint ventures and other new business structures; commercial agreements; employment and consultancy agreements; and partnership law, including LLPs.

In the rapidly changing political and business climates that shape the property world, the firm applies carefully considered strategies to facilitate maximum results in its clients' transactions and assists them with achieving their long-term strategic goals. Austin Moore & Partners has comprehensive property experience in a range of transactions: acquisition and sale of commercial property; investment property management; tenant property management; leasehold - landlord and tenant with a particular focus on the retail sector, property development; and property finance, including investment loans, development finance, grant funding, portfolio funding, profit share arrangements and restructuring.

In addition to its core practice areas, the firm has a specialist in commercial contracts and intellectual property rights and a specialist in employment law.
