Partner – Laurence Applegate joined REN Legal with extensive experience in company and commercial, corporate finance, corporate real estate, joint ventures, private equity and investment, private M&A, and restructurings. He has worked on corporate transactions in Africa, Asia, the US, Australia and Europe in multiple sectors, including soft commodities, agri-businesses, renewable energy, healthcare, leisure and technology. Laurence has particular experience in company commercial work for technology businesses and real estate private equity transactions. Recent deals include the sale of Fairmont Hotel and Golf Resort, St Andrews Scotland, joint venture and investment with respect to a portfolio of 19 commercial properties and advising media technology start-up on commercial and joint venture arrangements.

Starting January 1st, 2013, a new tax law (Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law) came into force in and completely changed the taxation system in Nicaragua. Two years later a new law was issued by the National Assembly containing more than 80 amendments, additions and repeals (Law No 891) which came into force December 18th, 2014.
