Position
Advocate Blakeley is the firm’s Principal specialising in litigation, regulatory and trust work. Notable cases include Izodia plc v RBSI in which he represented Izodia in a successful claim for over £27m. More recently, he represented the appellant in Leslie-Smith v Jersey Financial Services Commission which to date is the first and only successful appeal against a decision of the JFSC (the equivalent to the UK’s FSA). Has also represented a number of clients in criminal cases concerning commercial fraud. Other notable cases include Taylor v Chief of Police (successful action against the police for contempt of court); Chartier v Jersey Post; MacKinnon v Crill; Ani v Barclays Private Bank; Haworth Taylor Tucker v States of Jersey Policy and Resources Committee; Representation of Mickhael; In the Matter of C Trust Company.
Career
Trained London and Jersey: called to the Bar England and Wales 2000, Jersey Bar 2003; established Blakeley Legal January 2009. Called to Bar of England and Wales in 2000; commenced Jersey training at firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune and later at Viberts; joined law firm Jenners in 2003 and was appointed partner in 2005; appointed managing partner in 2006; established own firm in 2009.
