Mohammed advises on high value and complex property investment, development and finance transactions with a specialism in Islamic Finance.  He has worked with UK government and government agencies to adapt to the requirements of Islamic property transactions and advises investors and banks both in the UK and the Middle East on a range of Sharia compliant structures. 

Mohammed has assembled and leads a highly skilled and regarded team of lawyers that has been recognised alongside Magic and Silver circle law firms in a recent UK Government publication titled “UK Excellence in Islamic Finance”. 

He has also been a lecturer on the Islamic Finance Masters Degree at Aston University and has taught commercial property on the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law.

Shakespeare Martineau LLP has close working relationships with GCC banks and financial institutions, specialising in Islamic residential property finance,  This mainly comprises diminishing musharaka and commodity murabaha, with recent work advising Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank on ijara mortgages. Splitting time between London and Birmingham, head of practice Mohammed Saqub is a ‘sage of Islamic finance, known for his in-depth knowledge and application of Islamic principles to securities on real property’.
