Louise specialises in all aspects of asset management for Registered Providers (RPs), especially ExtraCare retirement villages and specialist tenure leasehold schemes.

Louise is a true expert when it comes to housing policy, particularly in the later living sector and regularly advises in relation to unique work, such as bespoke leases.  She is an expert in shared ownership, buy-backs and she also specialises in advising on the challenges and opportunities open to providers and on large-scale asset disposals.

Louise Drew (who ‘has strong experience and works with clients to resolve transactions’) advised Bromford Housing Association on the purchase of 107 plots as part of a 535-unit site in Staffordshire. Shakespeare Martineau LLP handles a range of work concerning housing association management. Louise Drew advised Bromford Housing Association on the conditional purchase of 107 affordable housing plots on a strategic redevelopment site, and in a separate deal, on the purchase of 59 plots in the redevelopment of a former Ministry of Defence site, structured with a “golden brick” provision. Rachel Gwynne, who joined the firm’s Stratford upon Avon office in April 2017 from Wright Hassall LLP, has expertise in charity law matters as applied to housing associations – in the same office, Paul Huggins advised Rooftop Housing Association on purchasing farmland for social development, and Emma Gamble has experience in dealing with head leases of sublet retirement schemes. Geraldine Haden retired.
