Commercial dispute resolution/debt recovery.

Position

Lead partner – commercial dispute resolution and debt recovery. Specialising in commercial dispute resolution issues, especially those from the engineering, retail and manufacturing sectors. Marie is experienced in managing a large and varied caseload of high value commercial disputes including: Professional negligence claims, product liability claims, restraint of trade, injunctive relief claims, shareholder/partnership disputes, contentious probate claims, banking and finance disputes, asset/loan recovery claims, international/cross border claims, agricultural disputes, property and construction disputes and intellectual property. Marie also has key areas of expertise in employment related litigation and corporate recovery/insolvency related litigation. Experienced in dealing with actions before the Technology and Construction Court, Commercial Court, Mercantile Court and Chancery division and the various alternative forms of dispute resolution through arbitration, adjudication and mediation. Clients include blue chip companies, major utility companies, insurance and construction companies, advertising agencies, major engineering manufacturers, distribution and transportation companies and large retail companies.

Qualified 1992. Roythomes LLP 1992-2010 (partner 2001; head of debt recovery 2006-10; head of Nottingham commercial dispute resolution 2008-10); Shakespeare Putsman LLP t/a Berryman (lead partner – debt recovery, lead partner – commercial dispute resolution) November 2010-present. In summer 2011, Shakespeare Putsman, Berryman and Needham & James were brought together under one unified name – Shakespeares.
