Matt is a partner in the employment team.

Matt's team works with employers and employees across a range of sectors and industries.


Matt has extensive experience in the sector which he uses to handle all aspects of employment law, from contracts to litigation in the Employment Tribunal and other courts. Matt also heads up the firm’s presence on a number of panels as an independent adviser for settlement agreements.

He advises organisations on a wide range of HR matters, including grievance and disciplinary procedures, redundancy situations, restrictive covenants and TUPE. He also acts for individuals and has advised numerous senior employees and directors on their compensation packages. Matt regularly advises executives in the financial sector on their settlement agreements.

Matt is also a legal commentator and author, writing for various publications including The Independent and City AM. He loves writing and enjoys having the opportunity to explain and comment on topical issues that affect all businesses.

    In recent years, the country ́s the government has been committed to improving Taxation in Nicaragua and attempting to follow the legislative model used by some of the other countries in the region. Starting January 1st, 2013, a new tax law (Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law) came into force in and completely changed the taxation system in Nicaragua. Two years later a new law was issued by the National Assembly containing more than 80 amendments, additions and repeals (Law No 891) which came into force December 18th, 2014.
