My legal skills were developed inhouse with both British Sugar and One Housing Group (OHG) which is a non-asset holding parent that brings together three housing associations under a group structure: Community Housing Association, Toynbee Housing Association and Island Homes Housing Association.

At OHG I assisted the Group Legal Department in managing over 12,000 homes in 26 local authorities across London and adjacent counties and has over 2,700 homes in the development pipeline. These include affordable rented homes, shared ownership schemes, intermediate rent homes for key workers and homes for private sale.

I am based in the commercial real estate team. My areas of expertise include both commercial and residential real estate work. On the commercial side, my commercial property experience includes landlord and tenant work, freehold and leasehold acquisitions, disposals, development work, deeds of easements, wayleave agreements and security work.

I also deal with all aspects of residential property including; leasehold acquisitions and dispositions, registered and unregistered titles, leasehold enfranchisement and acting for major banks in securing charges.

I studied LLB Law (Hons) at the University of Hertfordshire, joining Birkett Long in January 2005.

The 'extremely strong, knowledgeable and responsive' firm Birkett Long LLP 'is well recognised for its commercial property work' and has a 'keen interest in supporting local clients and their businesses'. Special expertise exists in development and construction, investment and secured lending matters, while the majority of clients come from the education, healthcare, public and environmental sectors. Key examples are London Southend Airport, University of Essex, Healthcare Homes, Flakt Woods and Braintree District Council. Navigator Terminals Thames and Herald Property Investments instructed the department for the first time in 2017, and the team was also appointed to the Lloyds Banking Group commercial banking pass-through panel. 'Outstanding' partner Emma Wraight advised E Wall as seller of a tenanted industrial site to Bellway for development. Also recommended are 'no-nonsense' partner David Rayner and 'knowledgeable and communicative' associate Daniel Sturman. Melanie Bache heads the overall practice.
