Head of the commercial litigation team at the Oxford office. Handles complex commercial and corporate disputes, often in multiple jurisdictions. Has particular expertise in the resolution of disputes between shareholders and those arising from the sale and purchase of companies. Has, in recent years, run a series of fraud claims arising from VAT counsel fraud and has recovered over £10m to date.

The team at the 'very reputable' Blake Morgan LLP handles complex and high-value commercial disputes for international and national corporations, with a broad range of specialisms including fraud and asset tracing, asset finance disputes and warranty claims. Practice head Chris Potts continues to defend Transworld Payment Solutions UK and its liquidator in proceedings filed in Curaçao by its former parent company First Curaçao International Bank (FCIB), assisting with securing evidence relating to fraud, corresponding with authorities in the UK, France and Holland, and co-ordinating litigation in two jurisdictions. Construction partner James Bessey has been advising Haribo on a series of disputes arising from the construction of a £92m factory facility, with mediation on the matters anticipated. Senior associate Nicola Diggle has been acting for a shareholder in a nationwide coffee bar chain in relation to an unfair prejudice claim being brought by another shareholder of the company. Blake Morgan LLP's insolvency team 'provides an extremely efficient service with a quick turnaround and a sensible commercial approach in pursuing claims and securing the client's objectives as quickly and cost-effectively as possible'. The practice covers corporate and personal administrations, liquidations, bankruptcies, receiverships and voluntary arrangements, as well as transactional and advisory matters. The lawyers have experience in the construction and real estate, healthcare, leisure, retail, technology, utilities and motor sectors. In a recent highlight, the team represented RSM Restructuring Advisory as proposed administrator of online poker companies PKR and PKR Technologies in claims brought by the online platform provider which acted as creditor, and in the sale of the database, software and IP rights. Other key clients include Critchleys and Begbies Traynor. The noted individuals are 'excellent litigator' and senior associate Katie James, who 'has the gravitas and commercial sense of a partner', and senior chartered legal executive Claire White. James leads the team from Reading and Oxford. Senior associate Dan Geddes joined the Southampton office from Lester Aldridge LLP in March 2017.
