Position
Robert Swift is a partner who, for 20 years, has specialised in helping clients to buy and sell farms and estates throughout the south of England. Last year this included the sale of Wansdyke in Berkshire which, shortly after contracts were exchanged, was described by ‘Farmers Weekly’ as ‘the biggest’ sale of rural property in England in 2009. Another notable sale in the last 12 months was the sale of the Sanctuary Estate in Devon and the sale of Castle farm in Oxfordshire. Over the last five years, Robert has acted for many buyers who have bought ‘off market’ and this is a growing part of his practice. City institutions, trust companies, charities, farmers and new entrants to farm and estate ownership are amongst his clients. He acts frequently for first-time farm or estate buyers, some from overseas, as well as for entrepreneurs seeking to acquire a piece of England to enjoy as home, or to diversify their investment portfolio. He writes for ‘Farmers Weekly’ and other journals on rural property matters.
