The Norwich office of Birketts LLP is a key part of the firm's cross-office private client practice, which handles wills and lifetime estate planning for farm owners, landowners, industrialists and entrepreneurs across East Anglia and further afield. It also deals with complex and disputed probate, including those with cross-border elements, as well as trust administration, tax advice, Court of Protection matters and the management of elderly clients' affairs. The vastly experienced Lorna Spear is the key contact. She frequently focuses on the needs of agricultural clients and acts for numerous landed estates and high-net-worth farming families. She works closely with agricultural trust expert Jack Royall. Senior associate Ruth Pyatt joined from Steeles Law to add experience in a broad range of private client matters, with a particular focus on cross-border and elderly client matters. Partner Neil Sparrow advises high-net-worth clients and landed estates on complex tax and trust matters, including a recent succession planning matter for a multimillion-pound estate. Senior associate Margaret Smith has more than 30 years' experience in this field of law.
