Nguyen Hong Hai is a partner of Lexcomm Vietnam LLC. Hai is an enthusiastic lawyer with more than 10 years of experience practicing in the Vietnam and international legal market. He is highly regarded for his enthusiasm, distinctive vision, proactiveness and versatility as a young yet experienced corporate and commercial attorney, with the main focus on areas of Merge and Acquisition (M&A), inbound and outbound Cross-border Investments, Infrastructure, Mining and Natural Resource, Insurance, Corporate Governance and Compliance, Employment and general Corporate. Hai also has extensive experiences in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolutions, and has represented many foreign corporate clients dealing with cross-border disputes between international clients and their business partners in Vietnam, as well as shareholders’ disputes among international investors in joint-venture businesses in Vietnam. Hai’s litigation experience involves both mutual conciliation and litigation at courts in Vietnam as well as arbitration at SIAC and VIAC.


Hai graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Law  (LL.B) degree from Hanoi Law University, then earned a full-fledged scholarship to read a master course on international law at the Transnational Law and Business University, South Korea. He graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in 2008. He started his legal career in 2005 with InvestConsult Group, a then-leading law and legal consultancy firm in Vietnam, where he earned the first promotion to a manager position after just 06 months. Returning Vietnam after the LL.M course, he first moved to a Korean law firm practicing as a senior consultant, then challenged himself with a new position as an in-house counsel of a French insurance company in Vietnam.

    On 6/20/2012, the National Assembly voted to adopt the Law on Price (the "LOP") in response to the public demand for an effective legal framework to control price manipulation from dominant enterprises such as gasoline, electricity, etc. The law will take effect from 01/01/2013 and repeal Ordinance No. 40/2002/PL-UBTVQH10 dated 26/4/2002 of the National Assembly Standing Committee (the "Ordinance"), which is conceived as outdated and containing certain provisions contravening the WTO’s regulation. This article describes the main features of the law and provides some insight into its potential impacts on the Vietnamese economy.
