Mr. Martinez, who heads the litigation practice group of the firm, has devoted his entire career in being counsel to a complex diversity of cases, be they criminal, civil or administrative. He has not confined his appearance in all the tiers of the regular courts but in government bodies exercising quasi-judicial functions as well. As an adjunct to his practice, he is involved in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) where he is an Appeals Court mediator accredited by the Philippine Judicial Academy. As such, he encourages litigants in forging a compromise thereby aiding in expeditious disposition of cases at the Court of Appeals. One facet of his practice involves family law, having advised and represented clients in legal proceedings involving declaration of nullity of marriages, legal separation, adoption, and the entire breadth of domestic relations cases. This is supplemented by his extensive experience in succession law practice, having handled proceedings relating to probate of wills, testate and intestate proceedings.
Mr. Martinez began his practice in Ponce Enrile Cayetano Reyes & Manalastas in 1992, where he was exposed to the different areas of law practice. Thereafter, he accepted the invitation to join Castillo Zamora & Poblador. Spending seven years in said law firm, he specialized in litigation, labor, immigration and intellectual property. He became the Philippine delegate to the Intellectual Property Rights Training Course of the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation, Tokyo, Japan, in 1998. In 2000, he founded his own law firm – Martinez & Mendoza. Here, Mr Martinez expanded his practice further, perfecting the art of appellate practice. In 2006, he was joined by Messrs. Mark Vergara, Manuel Gonzalez and Elmer Serrano giving birth to MVGS Law. He presently heads the litigation practice group of the firm.
