Career

Dr. Net Le is a partner in charge of LNT & Partners’ Infrastructure and Financial Services practice group, which is widely renowned for its capacity to tackle complex assignments. His deals have been highly appraised by Japanese, European and US financial association in complicated capital raising projects. His signatory transactions include major ODA infrastructure projects like East-West Highway, Metro Line 2, complex ICC arbitrations, oil refinery, and oil rigs. Dr. Le has been selected as a Recommended Lawyer in the fields of project finance, international arbitration, and infrastructure by IFLR1000, Legal 500 and Chambers Global. In 2012, Dr. Le was awarded the title of “Lawyer of the Year” by Vietnam’s Ministry of Justice. In 2015, Dr. Le was ranked as “Leading Lawyer” in Energy & Infrastructure, Disputes and Banking by IFLR1000. Dr. Le is an arbitrator at the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) in which he has chaired or co-arbitrated more than 30 cases. He is also a lecturer of civil law at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, and has authored textbooks that have been published in Vietnam and internationally. Prior to co-founding LNT & Partners, Dr. Le worked at Baker & McKenzie and Clifford Chance.

LNT & Partners’ ‘above average’ team, led by Net Le, advised Saigon Co.op on a contemplated purchase of the Big C supermarket chain from Casino Group. Ngoc Hong Bui, Xuan Thuy Nguyen and Vinh Tran assisted Blue Communication Group with a restructuring to enable the purchase of a 50% stake in the company by CJ Group. Anh Tuan Nguyen, who is ‘a very good and responsive lawyer’, advised Tael Two Partners on the purchase of 20% of Thong Nhat Production and Investment. Other work handled includes cross-border deals concerning real estate, business services and logistics-sector M&A transactions.

LNT & Partners handles a range of work regarding disputes, with particular sector strength in life sciences matters alongside construction and commercial disputes. Net Le successfully defended a public body in a VIAC-arbitrated dispute regarding warranty costs concerning a delayed infrastructure project, and, alongside Hai Ngo, also represented a party in a matrimonial case in which a key asset is shares in a Singaporean company.   • The Law On Price by Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, LNT & Partners

    On 6/20/2012, the National Assembly voted to adopt the Law on Price (the "LOP") in response to the public demand for an effective legal framework to control price manipulation from dominant enterprises such as gasoline, electricity, etc. The law will take effect from 01/01/2013 and repeal Ordinance No. 40/2002/PL-UBTVQH10 dated 26/4/2002 of the National Assembly Standing Committee (the "Ordinance"), which is conceived as outdated and containing certain provisions contravening the WTO’s regulation. This article describes the main features of the law and provides some insight into its potential impacts on the Vietnamese economy.
