Position
Partner and head of public law and human rights department; specialises in public and administrative law and human rights cases, both before the domestic courts and in the Strasbourg and Luxembourg courts. He advises the Equitable Members Action Group and the Pensions Act Group on public law matters arising out of Parliamentary Ombudsman investigations, and acts for individuals and organisations in a wide range of human rights and public law matters. He has acted in human rights cases against France, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, Romania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Hungary.
Career
Joined Bindman & Partners (now Bindmans LLP) in 1976 as a trainee; qualified 1978; partner 1981; member of the editorial board of ‘Judicial Review’; joint author of ‘Human Rights: the 1998 Act and the European Convention’ with Sir Jack Beatson QC and Peter Duffy QC (Sweet & Maxwell 2000); joint author, with Sir Jack Beatson and others, of ‘Human Rights: Judicial Protection in the United Kingdom’ (Sweet & Maxwell 2008).
