Quang, Eli Mazur (who is qualified in North Carolina) and senior associates Nguyen Van Hai (a new recruit from Mayer Brown) and Pham Thi Hai Ly are advising the lenders on financing the 1.2GW Nam Dinh 1 project. YKVN handles major debt and equity matters for Vietnamese issuers and investment banks, often acting in conjunction with major international firms. Truong Nhat Quang, counsel Nguyen Nam Hung and Singapore-based counsel Pham Minh Thang, together with Latham & Watkins LLP, which handled the US law issues, advised Techcombank on its flotation (styled as an "initial equity offering" rather than a traditional IPO as it was reserved for institutional investors), which raised VND21bn. Quang, alongside senior associates Pham Thi Hai Ly, Ho Thi Anh Tuyet and Nguyen Van Hai, who was a new arrival from Mayer Brown, advised Novaland on its $160m issuance of convertible bonds in Singapore, the first such Vietnam-related deal to run in parallel with an equity placement. Vinpearl is a client, as is GIC, which Quang advises along with K. Minh Dang, who is based in Singapore. Other work includes Vu Dzung advising Mobile World on a local VND1.15tn bond issuance. YKVN is a popular choice for international investors looking for Vietnamese legal advice pertaining to their activities in Vietnam. Truong Nhat Quang and counsel Nguyen Nam Hung advised Techcombank on a VND8.4tn sale of treasury shares to Warburg Pincus, and, in a separate deal, assisted the same client with redeeming its shares from HSBC. Quang and Phan Vinh Nhan , in conjunction with Milbank's Singapore office, advised Masan Group on its receipt of $150m of investment from KKR. Vu Dzung assisted Prudential Vietnam with selling the consumer finance part of its Vietnamese operations to ShinhanCard, and handled JD.com's purchase of a 20% stake in Tiki. Eli Mazur, whose work includes a significant amount of pharmaceutical and life sciences matters, is also a key contact in Ho Chi Minh City - his clients include Sanofi, among others. YKVN handles a broad range of dispute resolution matters. In 2017, the firm concluded a long-running dispute, between its client, the former owners of Euvipharm, and Valeant, and in the process became the first Vietnamese firm to act as first-chair in a Singapore International Arbitration Centre case, which also included litigation in Vietnam, the US and Canada. Key names involved in the case include Truong Trong Nghia in Ho Chi Minh City, and K. Minh Dang and Do Khoi Nguyen (who also handles heavyweight construction disputes) in the firm's Singapore office. Hanoi-based Luu Tien Dzung defended a ride-hailing company in a tort dispute with a taxi firm, which alleges it is operating an illegal taxi business, and also represented a hotel management company in a VIAC arbitration concerning the termination of a hotel management agreement. The firm also acts for Hill International, which Nghia represented in a an insolvency dispute, and VNPT. White-collar criminal defence work is another area of expertise.

    On 6/20/2012, the National Assembly voted to adopt the Law on Price (the "LOP") in response to the public demand for an effective legal framework to control price manipulation from dominant enterprises such as gasoline, electricity, etc. The law will take effect from 01/01/2013 and repeal Ordinance No. 40/2002/PL-UBTVQH10 dated 26/4/2002 of the National Assembly Standing Committee (the "Ordinance"), which is conceived as outdated and containing certain provisions contravening the WTO’s regulation. This article describes the main features of the law and provides some insight into its potential impacts on the Vietnamese economy.
