Mr. Yu is a founding partner of Llinks.


Mr. Yu has been engaged in legal services for more than 20 years and has participated in many groundbreaking transactions in China. He is well known for his rich practicing experience and innovative services in corporate law, M&A, private equity, restructuring and bankruptcy.  Throughout his legal career, Mr. Yu has represented a number of Fortune 500 companies, large-scale Chinese enterprises and listed companies, in cases involving cross-border investment, M&A, corporate finance, etc.  He possesses in–depth legal knowledge and practical experience in the following industries: automotive, energy, infrastructure, equipment manufacturing, medicine, education, media and entertainment, chemical, natural resources, pharmaceutical and healthcare, real estate and TMT.  He has assisted the clients on some creative projects in these business sectors.   

Mr. Yu is consistently recommended as a leading lawyer, a “Hot Lawyer” and a “Client Choice Lawyer” by Chambers & Partners, IFLR1000, Legal 500, Asia Legal Business and other major legal publications.  Mr. Yu was also named one of the “Top 10 Lawyers in Shanghai” by the Shanghai Bar Association and as one of the “National Outstanding Lawyers” by the All China Bar Association.

Mr. Yu currently is the president of the Shanghai Bar Association, an executive member of National Bar Association, a deputy director of the IT & High-Tech Law Committee (National Bar Association), an arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and Shanghai Arbitration Commission.  He also acts as a vice-chairman of the Commercial Law Research Council of Shanghai Law Society, an adjunct professor of East China University of Political Science and Law, etc.

Regularly instructed by Fortune 500 companies, SOEs and private companies, Llinks Law Offices handled a number of high-value M&A, joint venture, restructuring and investment transactions. Among them, Nicholas Lou advised SAIC Motor Corporation on establishing a joint venture with other investors and, in a separate transaction, acted for Contemporary Amperex Technology on the establishment of two joint ventures with SAIC Motor; David Yu advised an e-commerce company on its sale of share to a Chinese conglomerate and a large SOE;  capital markets specialist Wayne Chen assisting Joyvio Group with its investment in Nine Masters (Shanghai) Catering Service; and James Weng handled Everjoy health Group's share issuance for the purpose of purchasing three private hospitals and raising funds by private placement of RMB383m for the relevant construction of the target hospitals.
