Mr Yoon, the head of the finance practice group at Yulchon, primarily practices in the areas of M&A, finance, securities and international capital market. He has lectured and written extensively on corporate law. Mr Yoon’s representative transactions include Lotte Shopping’s acquisition of Hi-Mart, Lotte Confectionery’s acquisition of Guylian, Hyundai Motor’s acquisition of Shinheung Investment Securities and Standard Chartered’s acquisition of the Korea First Bank. He is perennially recognised as a leading transactional lawyer as well as leading capital market lawyer by numerous international publications.

Yulchon’s capital markets team sits within the corporate and finance group and is able to draw on its cross-departmental expertise in handling securitisation, debt market deals, IPOs for international corporations such as Kia Motors and the BMW Group. Jin Kook Lee is frequently involved in IPO and other equity capital transactions; he and senior foreign attorney Sung Keun Park advised Kia Motors on regulatory and compliance matters in connection with the issuance of foreign bonds. On the debt side, structured finance partner Kyu Sik Kim assisted with the structuring of Kangaroo Bonds to be issued by KEB Hana Bank under the A$2bn Australian debt issuance programme. He also advised BMW Group on the issuance of asset-backed securities, based on automobile instalment bonds worth KRW370bn in the domestic public offering market. Gun Kim  is also active in this area; he and Young Su Shin advised KyoboLife Insurance on the issuing of new hybrid bonds in the value of $500m. He also worked alongside Sung Wook Eun in assisting POSCO facilitate a block trade transaction of over seven million shares of KB Financial Group, a public company owned by POSCO. Hee Woong Yoon leads the department. Associate Soo Yeon Choi is another name to note.

Headed by Hee Woong Yoon, Yulchon’s M&A practice attracts clients with its ‘high-end service at reasonable billings’, ‘deeply knowledgeable counsel’ and seamless ‘cross-departmental coordination’. Key partner Jae Hyun Park advised Asia Cement in acquiring a 100% stake in HallaCement from Baring Private Equity Asia and working alongside Hong Kim, assisted STIC Investments on its purchase of a 70% stake in Daekyung O&T. Senior foreign counsel Anthony Choi stands out for his ‘strong legal knowledge and ability to provide commercial and strategic advise’; he and senior foreign counsel Seungyul Shawn Yum aided Lotte Confectionery in its acquisition of HavmorIce Cream, an ice cream manufacturer in India. Other key contacts include Jin Kook Lee and Tehyok Daniel Yi. Yong Yun, Woo Jin Ahn, and Seok Jun Park left the practice.
