Maddocks is particularly active in the contentious space and asset recovery issues; it acted for Ferrier Hodgson as liquidators and special purpose receivers of Banksia Securities in litigation arising from its collapse and represented a finance manager in claims related to the collapse of an investment vehicle alleged to have been unregistered managed investment schemes. The group's non-contentious work includes advising Pitcher Partners as trustees of the bankrupt estate of a mining entrepreneur in a public examination and the negotiation of a funding agreement, and assisting PCI Partners as liquidator of Gordon Ramsey Melbourne with all aspects of its liquidation. Team leader David Newman, Michael Johns and Marelda Hibberd are the key names to note.
