Position
Partner engaged primarily in aircraft finance and ship finance. Now based in Singapore to expand the firm’s asset finance practice in Asia. Recently acted for Kingfisher Airlines on its US$100m monetisation of pre-delivery payments, the sale/leaseback of several ATR-72 and A320 aircraft in 2007, and the sale of surplus aircraft from its fleet in 2008; The Boeing Company and SkyEurope A/S on various matters; Macquarie Aviation Capital Finance in relation to engine leasing; Investec Bank (UK) Limited in several corporate jet financings; Arkia Israeli Airlines in connection with its fleet expansion programme; and Amentum Capital in respect of aircraft leased to Indonesia. In 2009, Tom represented a top-tier financial institution in a tax-structured financing of four vessels with an aggregate value in excess of US$300m.

Career: Trained Clifford Chance, qualified 1972; worked in London, Tokyo, UAE, Paris and Hong Kong (three years with Johnson, Stokes and Master); Clifford Chance, partner 1981, retired 2001; Investec Bank, investment banker in the structured finance team; BLP 2006.
