Position
Has a broad-based UK and EU competition practice, specialising in merger control and behavioural issues. Advises on all sectors, with particular focus on media and IT. Also advises on broadcasting and rail regulatory issues. Clients include National Grid, Panavision, Dell, Guardian News & Media, Travelex and the Office of Rail Regulation. Recent merger matters include genus/local breeders, acting for Surry Rx on its acquisition by Johnson & Johnson; and acting for a third party on the ‘Project Kangaroo’ inquiry.

Career: Trained Baker & McKenzie; qualified 1996; solicitor in IP and IT group, Baker & McKenzie 1996-97; solicitor in competition group, Simmons & Simmons 1997-2000; solicitor in competition group, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Brussels 2000-01; case officer OFT 2001-02; branch director OFT 2002-05; partner Berwin Leighton Paisner 2005 to date. Has published a number of articles on competition law developments in journals such as ‘New Media Age’, ‘World Online Gambling’, ‘PLC’ and ‘Global Competition Review’, and has been quoted on competition law matters on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 News and CNBC.
