Partner in banking and capital markets group of the finance department specialising in leveraged finance (including acquisitions, MBOs, MBIs and public to private transactions), acting for banks, private equity houses and corporate borrowers. Clients include AIB, Barclays Bank, Cognis Capital Partners LLP, Close Brothers, Deutsche Postbank AG, HBoS and RBS. Acted for: Barclays Leveraged Finance in providing various syndicated facilities of £32m to Concateno PLC to finance the acquisition of Cozart PLC, and in providing syndicated facilities of £120m to Laurel High Street Bars Limited; Castle Holdings Limited in connection with £425m syndicated term and revolving facilities provided by The Royal Bank of Scotland plc to finance various acquisitions by Castlebeck Group Limited; Close Brothers Private Equity on syndicated senior, mezzanine and junior facilities of £141m made available to Upperpoint Distribution Limited by HSBC and others; and The Royal Bank of Scotland on providing syndicated facilities of £58m to SBJ Group Limited to finance various acquisitions.

    On Friday 27 November 2009 the new European Commission, which will begin its mandate early in 2010, was announced by Commission President José Barroso. This announcement followed a week after the appointment of Herman Van Rompuy and Catherine Ashton as the President of the European Council and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy respectively, the two new roles created by the Lisbon Treaty, which entered into force on 1 December 2009.
