Partner specialising in advice to developers, landowners, public authorities and utility providers on planning, public and environmental law and strategy. His work focuses on large-scale planning applications; appeals; planning and highway agreements in connection with business parks, retail centres, infrastructure projects and large scale residential and regeneration developments; statutory processes (DCOs for nationally significant infrastructure projects, compulsory purchase and highway closure/creation); site assemblies environmental impact assessment; environmental aspects of corporate transactions; enforcement; planning policy; Lands Tribunal references and judicial review. Recent examples include being on the strategic advisory panel to National Grid; advising financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, RBS, and Barclays; Ebbsfleet (Blue Circle and Land Securities); Eastern Quarry (Land Securities); Victoria (Land Securities); Chelsea Barracks (Qatari Diar); Barking Riverside (HCA/Bellway); Blackwall Reach (Tower Hamlets); Merseytram (Liverpool City Council); major retail developments (Tesco); Severnside (ICI); drought orders (Sutton and East Surrey Water); and water treatment works (Southern Water).
