Position

Mark is a partner and head of BLP’s energy group. His key clients include Gateway, Total, OMV and OSRL/EARL. He has advised on most aspects of energy law, particularly oil and gas. He also has extensive corporate experience, having worked on many high-value joint ventures, public offerings and M&A transactions. Mark was seconded to a large oil and gas company during his early career and has acted as outside counsel to a number of the integrated majors as well as service companies within the sector. He is also solicitor to the oil industry environmental response collective. Mark has extensive experience of transactions outside the UK (as well as within the UK), particularly continental Europe, the former Soviet Union, Africa and the US. He has acted on several acquisitions and disposals of oil and gas company shares and assets worldwide. He has been heavily involved in the legal aspects and negotiation of several oil and gas working agreements, infrastructure and independent power projects, working interest disposals, acquisitions and swaps, share transactions, transportation and processing agreements, LNG projects, petrochemicals joint ventures and gas sales. Mark has been cited as a foremost practitioner in energy law in both ‘The Legal 500’ and ‘Chambers’ for the past 20 years. He has been included as one of the world’s leading 20 practitioners in energy law in the ‘Best of the Best’ surveys in each year of publication.
