Partner and Head of the International Arbitration. 

Philippa specialises in complex and high-value cross-border arbitration disputes, and has 20 years’ experience of proceedings before the major arbitral institutions. She has acted for clients including major global corporations in the aviation, pharmaceutical, power, and oil and gas industries. She is a Solicitor-Advocate and also sits as an arbitrator.

Philippa has advised clients on five continents in relation to arbitration proceedings. She has led teams in court applications and enforcement proceedings, and in mediation and other ADR formats. Her experience includes cases seated in England, France, Sweden, the United States, the UAE, and Nigeria, as well as the application of foreign laws including those of Venezuela, Brazil, China, New York and Russia.

She is ranked in both Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2017 and in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration Under-45 2017. She was also ranked in Expert Guides (2016) in Commercial Arbitration and Women in Business Law: Commercial Arbitration – one of only 12 women in London so ranked.


Philippa trained and qualified into the commercial dispute resolution group of Rowe & Maw (now Mayer Brown International LLP) in 1999 and became a partner there in 2007. She joined Stewarts in February 2013.


Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Member of the ICC and the LCIA. Member, UK Committee on Arbitration, ICC (2015-date). Member, Task Force on the Probative Value of Witness Evidence, ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR (2016-date). CEDR-accredited mediator. Solicitor-Advocate of the Higher Courts of England and Wales (2002).


Educated in Dublin and at Oxford.
