Position

Specialist in resolving professional negligence claims against solicitors and other professionals, especially financial services intermediaries. Also has leading reputation as a mediator of insurance and commercial disputes. Very familiar with mis-selling in the retail financial services sector. Detailed understanding of investment products, including PPl, PFW, personal pensions (SIPP/SSAS/EPP), SCARPs and split capital investment trusts. Extensive experience of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and the Pension Ombudsman – acted for the successful party in Kemp v Sims (2008) (pension trustee maladministration). Project managed PI insurers’ disposal of a £42m pension review exposure (2000-05). Chris is also ranked as one of the top 50 commercial mediators in the UK, having now mediated over 150 substantial cases since his accreditation in 1999. Has been described as ‘extremely talented and reliable’ – ‘Chambers’ (2009), ‘very highly rated’ – ‘The Legal 500’ (2009), ‘exhibits substantial knowledge and experience in the sector’ – ‘The Legal 500’ (2008).
