Position

Joe is a highly experienced catastrophe injury partner, dealing with complex loss and high value claims. He has a background in clinical negligence. He is nominated partner for the NHSLA and works with NHS Trusts, representing them through inquests and advising on a wide range of healthcare issues. He also manages their non-clinical claims. Joe was one of the key partners responsible for establishing BLM’s presence in Dublin. Member of the Bristol Medico Legal Society and Civil Courts Committee.

Led out of Southampton, practice head Joe Wakeford, who also practices in the firm's Bristol office, has over 25 years of experience with a particular focus on mental health work. Stephanie Castell handles large claims around catastrophic injury, and Clare Garnett is also recommended.

The personal injury group at BLM has a stellar reputation for handling a wide range of high-value and complex matters. Jointly headed by Andrew Hibbert and Joe Wakeford, the practice group has expertise in the areas of health and safety and construction. The ten-partner team has a variety of specialisms ranging from loss and catastrophic injury to occupational disease claims, and also handles regulatory matters. Stephen Hazleton retired, but Bilal Mirza joined the team from DWF.
