Occupational disease team.

Position

Partner, heads up the OD team in London and specialises in stress and RSI claims, but also chronic pain. Michelle heads up the care homes group in London and advises on policy coverage issues. Michelle has produced a strategy for disease portal claims and is working with a client to see if it is possible to improve the portal process for disease. Michelle chaired the review of the disease and illness PAP as a result of her position on the civil justice committee at The Law Society. At the time, she was council member on behalf of  FOIL. Michelle has been  working with The Law Society on a specific accreditation scheme for disease. This commenced in July this year and Michelle has since been appointed Chief Assesor of the scheme. Michelle presents at various seminars both for BLM and externally and also provides training for both clients and at BLM.

Trained at TV Edwards and the CPS; qualified 1993; Thompsons 1995 where she began to specialise in disease claims and became team leader in 1997; BLM 2000; partner 2003.

Other key figures include Claire Collins, who has more than 16 years' experience handling high-value, complex cases, including spinal, brain injury and amputation cases; the 'exceptional' Nick Pargeter, whose expertise encompasses complex policy coverage issues, disease claims and test litigation; Nigel Lock, who is noted for his 'calm and unruffled presence' and who has particular expertise in deafness and HAVS claims; and Anthony French, who heads the London catastrophic injury team and is 'the port of first call for amputation cases'.  Jonathan Edwards and Jennette Newman joined Clyde & Co LLP, Victoria Kennedy joined DAC Beachcroft LLP and Jenny Moates retired.
