Steele Raymond LLP is highly regarded in the region for representing companies and individual directors and shareholders in complex commercial disputes. Though clients have noted that ‘the firm’s service is excellent irrespective of the individual who provides it’, department head Peter Rolph is singled out as having ‘vast experience across a range of disputes, which he can bring to bear in every case he handles’. Rolph acted for an individual in relation to the recovery of a multimillion-pound loan granted to a BVI company, and, in another matter, asisisted a technology company with various claims arising from the termination of a cross-border distribution agreement. The group is now led by senior associate Hannah Dare, ‘an absolutely first-rate property litigator’, who joined the firm from Fladgate LLP. Dare advises a national retailer on ongoing contentious property issues, and is assisting a commercial landlord with negotiations regarding a substantial dilapidations claim. Additionally, the team was involved in a collective enfranchisement project, and has been engaged by a development company to advise on a right of way concern. Peter Rolph heads the wider disputes resolution department. Simone Ritchie left the firm to become a sole practitioner/property litigation consultant.

  • Consolidated Group (Income Tax) Rules, 2019

    On 31 May 2019, Malta published the “Consolidated Group (Income Tax) Rules". The rules will come into force as from year of assessment 2020 and the rules introduce the concept of fiscal units into Maltese tax law .
