Career

Chusert Supasitthumrong, a partner at Tilleke & Gibbins, is a trial and appellate lawyer specializing in labor and employment law. An expert in this field and the go-to lawyer for Thailand’s largest employers, Chusert excels at solving critical employment disputes, from labor strikes to layoffs to contested for-cause terminations.

A formidable advocate with extensive experience litigating complex employment matters before the Labor Court and the Supreme Court, Chusert is equally successful in securing favorable settlements and contract terms for his clients. His labor practice includes advising clients in multiple-party labor disputes and collective bargaining negotiations. Chusert is one of just a handful of private practice lawyers in Thailand licensed as a Labor Relations Advisor with the Thai Ministry of Labor, which enables him to engage directly with labor unions in negotiations on behalf of corporate clients.

Chusert also handles commercial disputes related to product liability, customs, maritime international trade, company reorganizations, tax, and white-collar crime. He is a regular speaker on these topics, presenting at regional legal conferences, for corporate clients at in-house seminars, and on televised programs. He is also a frequent contributor to the Bangkok Post and other leading periodicals.

Chusert was the exclusive winner for Thailand of the International Law Office Client Choice Award 2012 for Employment and Labor.

Dispute resolution

Within: Dispute resolution

The disputes team at Tilleke & Gibbins is noted for its 'impressive responsiveness' and 'commercial acumen’. Its litigation capabilities are wide-ranging, though particular areas of strength include product liability, employment, IP and aviation disputes. In the aviation sector, Thawat Damsa-ard led a team that represented Air Lease Corporation in administrative court proceedings concerning the repossession of two aircraft. The team is also sought out for its formidable anti-corruption and compliance expertise; contacts include consultant John Frangos, who is advising a multinational transport company on anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and compliance in Thailand. Chusert Supasitthumrong is an expert in employment litigation, and Tiziana Sucharitkul is another of the group's recommended litigators.

Labour and employment

Within: Labour and employment

The 'exceedingly professional’ Tilleke & Gibbins has a broad employment practice that attracts a steady flow of instructions from household name companies across the TMT, consumer goods, transportation and financial services sectors, among others. Moreover, the group has significant dispute resolution capabilities, where it leverages the combined expertise of the employment and litigation departments to handle a range of employment disputes. In the contentious space, the team has been particularly active in employee fraud cases, unfair termination litigation and claims for allegedly unpaid overtime. Immigration is another area of expertise; the department advises multinationals on work permits, visas and permanent residence permits. Further, the firm is adept at handling the employment aspects of multi-jurisdictional corporate transactions and was recently instructed by a foreign law firm to assist with the Thailand employee transfer component of a global asset-for-share transaction. Trial and appellate lawyer Chusert Supasitthumrong acts for some of Thailand's largest employers in complex employment litigation. Also recommended are consultant Eric Meyer, and Pimvimol Vipamaneerut, who specialises in non-contentious employment matters.
