Chusert Supasitthumrong, a partner at Tilleke & Gibbins, is a trial and appellate lawyer specializing in labor and employment law. An expert in this field and the go-to lawyer for Thailand’s largest employers, Chusert excels at solving critical employment disputes, from labor strikes to layoffs to contested for-cause terminations.

A formidable advocate with extensive experience litigating complex employment matters before the Labor Court and the Supreme Court, Chusert is equally successful in securing favorable settlements and contract terms for his clients. His labor practice includes advising clients in multiple-party labor disputes and collective bargaining negotiations. Chusert is one of just a handful of private practice lawyers in Thailand licensed as a Labor Relations Advisor with the Thai Ministry of Labor, which enables him to engage directly with labor unions in negotiations on behalf of corporate clients.

Chusert also handles commercial disputes related to product liability, customs, maritime international trade, company reorganizations, tax, and white-collar crime. He is a regular speaker on these topics, presenting at regional legal conferences, for corporate clients at in-house seminars, and on televised programs. He is also a frequent contributor to the Bangkok Post and other leading periodicals.

Chusert was the exclusive winner for Thailand of the International Law Office Client Choice Award 2012 for Employment and Labor.

Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution team is active not only in domestic civil litigation and arbitration, but also regularly appears in specialty courts involving corruption, white-collar crime, labour, customs and tax disputes. Indeed, Chusert Supasitthumrong represented Stanley Works before the Labor Relations Board regarding union employee claims that they were terminated for exercising their right, under the Labor Relations Act, to submit a labour demand. Supasitthumrong and John Frangos have also been involved in several product liability claims in 2016-2017. In the aviation space, Frangos is instructed by various global aircraft leasing companies in relation to aircraft repossession proceedings. Showcasing the department’s customs and criminal law expertise, a large team including Thawat Damsa-ard is acting for a household name tobacco manufacturer in two separate criminal customs claims for which it could be held liable for nearly $2.9bn. Michael Ramirez is a key contact in the firm’s regulatory and anti-corruption team and is instructed by clients such as Western Digital, while Aaron Le Marquer and Ittirote Klinboon have extensive experience in insurance claims and professional negligence.
