Rose Marie M. King-Dominguez is a partner in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan. She is a member of the firm’s Special Projects and Banking, Finance and Securities groups. Her practice covers investments, and mergers and acquisitions, telecommunications, media and advertising. Ms. King-Dominguez chairs the firm’s training committee, which is in charge of orientation and development activities for the legal staff, particularly junior lawyers.

Her M&A and foreign investments projects include:

  • Acquisition by local pharmaceutical company in certain assets of GSK
  • Acquisition by local food company of several popular restaurant chains
  • Representation of Carlysle Group in bid for San Miguel Purefoods (involving structuring, due diligence, and financing)
  • Integration of local Sun Microsystems entity after purchase by Oracle of Sun Microsystems worldwide
  • Acquisition/Investment by Marubeni in various entities, including a trading company and leasing company
  • Acquisition/Investment by International BPO companies in local BPOs
  • Investment (and subsequent divestment) by AIG Opportunity fund in Shopwise (local hypermart)
  • Representation of various global telecoms companies (including Telenor) in local transactions
  • Representation of Bumrungrad International in its sale of its interests in Asian Hospital to Metro Pacific


During the period of 1991 to 1992, she took a leave from the firm to work in the Philippine Senate as a legal officer for the Committee on Government Corporations and Committee on Foreign Relations.

From 2003 to 2005, she was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and served as editor-in-chief of the IBP Journal. In 2005, she received a Presidential Plaque of Merit for her services to the IBP.

She has served as the country editor of several regional trade publications including Asian Legal Business and Capital Asia. She has co-authored, among others, the Philippine chapters of CCH Doing Business in the Philippines, the Digest of Commercial Laws of the World, and Getting the Deal Through in Telecoms and Media.

She has been cited in Asialaw’s lists of Asia’s leading lawyers in the fields of capital markets and corporate finance, and general corporate practice, and in the 2012 Chambers Asia Client’s Guide to Asia’s Leading Lawyers for Business. In 2007, she received a Catholic Mass Media Award for Best Feature Article.

Ms. King-Dominguez is a member of the faculty of the Lyceum of the Philippines College of Law where she teaches a course in legal writing. She has previously lectured on legal writing for MCLE programs sponsored by the Lyceum and other providers.


Ms. King-Dominguez is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, where she was National Officer from 2003 to 2005. She is also a Founding Member and Corporate Secretary of Societa Dante Alighieri, Manila.


Ms. King-Dominguez obtained her undergraduate (cum laude) and law degrees from the University of the Philippines. She was the editor of the Philippine Law Journal..
